Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Chief Derek Barrs put out a video message thanking drivers as part of the U.S. Department of Transportation's observance of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
While trucking sure has its issues, like the grinding Motus mess, CDL fraud, and record high diesel, this week FMCSA said it's "time to recognize the millions of professional men and women who keep America moving -- delivering the goods, supplies, and resources we all depend on. Day after day and mile after mile, professional drivers put safety, reliability, and efficiency at the forefront."
“America’s Roads Rely on Pros,” FMCSA said in a release. "Professional drivers spend countless hours and miles behind the wheel, giving them a unique opportunity to lead by example and help make safety the standard on our roads, the release continued.
On social media, Transportation Sean Duffy shared an AI video recapping the department's anti-fraud efforts and blasting "chameleon carriers" and "illegal aliens" causing fatalities on the highway.
DOT and FMCSA "will never stop our fight to crack down on fraud, revoke illegal CDLs, and put the power back behind the wheels of AMERICANS driving the BIG RIGS," Duffy posted.
Barrs concluded his message inviting everyone to thank a trucker.
"Whether you host an event, spotlight a driver on social media, or simply share a message of appreciation with the drivers in your network, your voice helps carry that recognition further," the release said.
