Office edits to a log, unlike with many AOBRD systems, will go to the driver for final approval under the ELD spec. Survey results show some carriers and drivers clearly appreciate the ability with many AOBRDs to bypass any driver-approval step in the log-edit chain.

The AOBRD-to-ELD shift: Data/edits and visibility at roadside
With AOBRDs, edits made in the back office as a general rule donât present to the roadside officer. Under the ELD specification, however, data transmittal at roadside includes those edits. It also includes detailed records of the truckâs GPS positions, engine on-off records, engine hours and the like.
