Truck drivers raised a record $600,542 for the Make-A-Wish of Philadelphia, Delaware and Susquehanna Valley as part of the 30th annual Mother’s Day Convoy last month.

Drivers of 545 trucks raised the record amount, which was $100,000 more than the total brought in by last year’s event, according to a Make-A-Wish spokesperson.

Cara Haring, a development intern at the organization, said as a result of the convoy, Make-A-Wish will grant “dozens and dozens of wishes for local children with critical illnesses. We grant a majority of our wishes in the summertime, so you had better believe we are putting this money to use as we speak. We are inching closer to our unprecedented goal of granting 365 wishes this year, on average, one wish every day in our chapter area.”

The 545 trucks that assembled in the day-long, cold rain represents the third largest such convoy in world history, according to Haring.

Drivers raised money through pledges of support. Company drivers, owner-operators, drivers for private fleets and numerous first responders participated in the 26-mile convoy to Ephrata, Pennsylvania, and back.

The RoadPro Family of Brands, which is located in nearby Palmyra, Pennsylvania, is the title sponsor of the convoy.
