Are cab-mounted warning beacons a safe alternative to warning triangles? FMCSA believes so for autonomous trucks, with another exemption granted in July one operator is now attempting to stop in federal court.

FMCSA renewed an exemption in July for autonomous truck maker Aurora to be able to use cab-mounted warning beacons instead of warning triangles, extending it also to other developers who opt in. Cargo van operator petitioned in federal court to stop the move.
