FMCSA officially has new boss as Senate confirms Darling to head agency

The U.S. Senate on July 14 confirmed by voice vote T.F. Scott Darling as the new administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Darling has run the agency on an interim basis since the August 2014 departure of Anne Ferro.

President Barack Obama nominated Darling to head the agency as the permanent administrator in August 2015. The July 14 Senate confirmation completes the process, officially making Darling the new boss of FMCSA.

In a statement issued on the confirmation on Friday, DOT Secretary Anthony Foxx praised Darling’s work thus far as interim administrator.

“I am pleased that the Senate confirmed Scott Darling to be the next administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. As the acting administrator, Scott has been laser-focused on the Agency’s mission of reducing large bus and truck crashes and fatalities,” Foxx said. “He goes the extra mile to engage actively and personally with the agency’s stakeholders. His collaborative approach has moved the ball forward on commercial motor vehicle safety. I look forward to our continued work together and congratulate him on his confirmation.”
