Cost of truck financing has risen, even as owner-operator credit scores show improvement
Credit-score polling showed some improvement for owner-ops over five years, yet the hesitancy to extend various forms of credit at lower rates has grown most in recent years for new carriers with authority “and 1-3-truck operators, regardless of their credit score.” For all with three trucks or less, it’s gotten more expensive to borrow money.

Judge blocks California’s contractor law: Owner-operators ‘at the very heart of interstate trucking’
A federal district court on Thursday issued a ruling that prevents California from enforcing its new A.B. 5 law on motor carriers and owner-operators, meaning that the trucking industry is exempt from the law until a lawsuit brought by the California Trucking Association (CTA) can be tried.

Reyco Granning’s phasing in new coating in suspension products to improve corrosion resistance, as well as resist chipping, scratching and gravel damage.

Keeping produce and livestock safe while transporting in the heat is common enough, but there is also demand for protecting certain other freight when the mercury heads in the opposite direction. Liquids, certain chemicals and solids such as cosmetics are among cold-sensitive freight.

Robert Digrazia was on his way to pick up freight in Bradenton, Florida, when he saw a car stopped in the road with small flames coming from under the driver’s door. He pulled up next to the car and saw the driver, a young woman possibly in her late teens, was still inside.

Though rates aren’t forecasted to hedge lower in 2020, they’re also not projected to gain any steam, according to analysts from FTR. Truck utilization is weak, and truck loadings are forecasted to remain flat.
