Jumps in fuel spending, driver wages pushed carrier costs higher in ’18
Costs for trucking companies, including small carriers and owner-operators, surged in 2018, with rising fuel costs and driver wages pushing per-mile costs up 13 cents on average, according to the American Transportation Research Institute’s annual survey of carrier spending.

Wilson Logistics petitions FMCSA to allow pre-CDL drivers to run team
Wilson’s request would still require a CDL holder in the truck at all times, but not necessarily in the front seat. Wilson says the exemption would allow the CLP holder “to participate in a revenue-generating trip back to his or her state of domicile to obtain the CDL.”

Regs suspended in Midwest for truckers hauling heating fuel
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration announced Friday, Nov. 1, it is suspending Parts 390 through 399 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations for haulers transporting heating fuel, including propane, natural gas and heating oil, or providing other direct assistance, into eight Midwestern states.
