Finally, with the college football season over and my Georgia Bulldog-fan friends’ constant worrying and bellyaching over the metaphysical “luck of the Tide,” as it were, mostly over with (not entirely, of course — yeah, that’s right, we’re still talking smack on occasion amongst ourselves up here in the relatively removed and neutral safety of Nashville, Tenn., far and long away from the Overdrive main offices in the heart of Tide T-Town), I came across a football/trucking-related bit I could share, also 
Never mind the terror the 6’6″, 250-lb. Clowney has inspired in the mind of Georgia QB Aaron Murray the last couple years, did you see the hit he put on the Michigan running back on New Year’s Day (S.C. would eventually pull away with the win — see the vid at bottom for said hit)? Holy cow. It inspired the following image of an altered “Welcome to South Carolina” sign, looking quite like the one on southbound I-77 from Charlotte into my (and Clowney’s) home county of York:
It’s a fake, of course, but it reminds me of a very real version of such altered signage my dad told me about seeing not oh so long ago — perhaps you saw it, too. Coming down out of the Appalachians in North Carolina or Tennessee (he couldn’t recall which exactly) during the uproar over unintended acceleration in some Toyota autos and passing some of the runaway truck ramps, he couldn’t help but notice someone had added to the “runaway truck” signage “and Toyotas” or something similar.
