The Channel One-Nine Special set of mini-episodes in the Over the Road podcast series attempts to provide answers to questions about trucking from listeners inside and outside the business by consulting with the professionals. For the second episode, we’re answering a question that came from a variety of listeners curious about driving habits and preferences — and geography. The question: What are some professional drivers’ favorite roads out there? 

There is, as regular readers will know, a song about that, and in this episode, we get to hear a little of owner-operator Mandi Jo Pinheiro‘s “Heartbeat,” written after collecting truckers’ responses to this very question a couple years back. She won our Trucker Talent Search competition that year, 2018, with a performance of the song.

But we’ll also hear from I-65 Transport flatbedder Fredrick “Choice M.A.S.” Claxton about his journey into trucking after more than a decade working on both coasts with one of the biggest names in clothing. For him, trucking started as something of an adventure, his choice of favorite stretch of road reflects that in one sense. Yet his No. 2, well, that was a bit of a surprise:
