Be prepared for next week’s nationwide Brake Safety Week inspection spree
If the results of June’s 72-hour International Roadcheck inspection blitz are any indication, Brake Safety Week may not be a pleasant experience for a number of drivers. Braking systems were the top OOS violation, accounting for more than a quarter of OOS violations with 4,578, or 28% of the total.

Brake Safety Week inspection blitz set for Sept. 15-21
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s annual Brake Safety Week will focus on brake hoses and tubing. Inspectors will be checking to make sure the hoses and tubing are properly attached, undamaged, without leaks and appropriately flexible.

According to CVSA, inspectors across the U.S. and Canada inspected 35,080 commercial vehicles during the blitz and placed 4,955 (14.1 percent) out of service for brakes violations during September’s Brake Safety Week.

Brake Safety Week intensifies this year to a single-day blitz
Save the date: Sept. 7 is Brake Safety Day this year. The International Roadcheck enforcement blitz is on its way in just more than a month, June 6-8. And later in the year, the activities around Operation Safe Driver Oct. 15-21 will target unsafe behaviors, including those of automobile drivers navigating around commercial vehicles.
