The two Bison Transport drivers stopped after witnessing a crash and stayed on the scene for more than eight hours. One of the drivers helped comfort an elderly woman in her final moments, and the other driver helped a motorist who was trapped in her car until emergency crews arrived.

Danny Martin saw a sheriff’s deputy attempting to handcuff a man, but saw the suspect was becoming combative, resisting arrest and pushing the deputy. Martin got out of his truck and helped the deputy get the man on the ground and handcuffed.

Victor Smith, a driver for ABF Freight, was recognized for following his intuition and going after an older woman who went the wrong way after he gave her directions. He was able to get her to pull over on the interstate and wait with her until police arrived to help.

Carl Cormier attempted to avoid a person running on foot toward his truck, but the person continued running back and forth with Cormier’s oncoming truck as he veered to avoid them. He then quickly braked to a complete stop before hitting the person, who he then determined to be a distressed woman.

Trucker who comforted dying fellow driver named Highway Angel of the Year
John Weston came up on a two-truck crash, stopped and found the driver of the second truck trapped in his seat and unable to move. Weston comforted the driver for more than a half hour by placing his hand on the driver’s head until the driver passed away.

Once on the side of the road, David ran down the dump truck on foot, opened the door and set the brakes. When the dump truck stopped, he checked on the driver, who was not breathing.
