Diesel price increases

After four weeks of falling prices, the national average retail price of diesel increased slightly the week ended Aug. 29, rising 1 cent to $3.82 a gallon, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration.

Average prices dipped on the East Coast and Gulf Coast but rose 5.3 cents to $3.908 on the West Coast and 3 cents to $3.958 in California. All regions are still below $4 a gallon.

With the latest price drop, the national average price is 85.3 cents higher than a year ago. The record diesel price was $4.764 in July 2008.
