With economic growth accelerating through the first roughly two-thirds of 2018, larger carriers seemingly turned to smaller carriers and owner-operators to help handle the influx of freight demand, according to notes within earnings reports from large, publicly traded trucking companies.

Karwaski passed a year ago this past Tuesday, Feb. 26, says his daughter. Apple House Trucking closed in 2007 as the recession took hold, after having grown to a height of around 50 trucks in the early 1990s. Earlier than that, its distinctive blue/gold/white paint scheme was featured twice in Overdrive.
