A remote driver more than 100 miles from small country road near the Town of Clewiston in Hendry County, Fla. placed the bobtail tractor in drive, centered the truck in its lane and then put the truck in full autonomous mode for a seven mile unmanned jaunt at highway speed.

Van, reefer demand update: Rates reverse course, heading up in the last week
Van volumes have been rising for two weeks, and rates followed last week. Meanwhile, reefer has mimicked van trends, though swings have been sharper. At once, spot rates have on average been above contract rates for reefers since September, perhaps portending more positive moves to come there.

Lytx says DriveCam in use by more than 850,000 drivers
Lytx, provider of driver monitoring system DriveCam, announced this week it now has half a million subscriptions to its video system, adding 300,000 over the past three years, the company said in its 2017 recap. That covers more than 850,000 trucks, Lytx says.
