Tennessee Technological University, paid by Fitzgerald Glider Kits to perform a study measuring the exhaust emissions of glider kit trucks, has told the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to disregard the study until the university can âassure its validity.â

FMCSA grants waiver to help hurricane-displaced Puerto Ricans obtain CDLs
FMCSA has issued a 90-day waiver from proof of U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residence and domicile requirements for Puerto Rican citizens relocating to the U.S. in the aftermath of hurricanes Irma and Maria. The agency is also seeking comments on a longer exemption with the same terms.

If you incurred a 395.8(a) prior to April 1 simply for not having an ELD record and you were keeping paper logs, challenge it through the FMCSA DataQs process to remove it from carrier records.

The bills mostly cite concerns of small business truckers as the reasons to repeal the mandate or suspend its enforcement, as well as the potential for the mandate to drive up prices of goods for consumers. Legislators in South Dakota, Missouri, Tennessee and Idaho have introduced resolutions taking aim at the mandate.

FMCSA allowing lower mounting of trailer rear ID, clearance lamps for TrailerTail aero devices
FMCSA contends that because all trailers are required to have red and white reflective sheeting or reflectors to indicate that a trailer is part of a commercial vehicle rather than a passenger vehicle, the lights do not have to be positioned at the top of the trailer.

OOIDA asks FMCSA to institute pause button for 14-hour clock
The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association has filed a petition with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration asking the agency to allow drivers to pause their 14-hour daily clock for up to three straight hours and to nix the 30-minute rest break required by current hours regs.
