Truckers were given 30,714 warnings and 8,164 citations during the enforcement blitz, 84.2 percent of which were for state and local moving violations. Speeding accounted for 7.4 percent of violations.

Kentucky-licensed trucker shut down following accident caused by drug overdose
According to FMCSA, Kinmon was driving west on I-74 in Ohio on Aug. 18 when his truck slowed down to a stop and began rolling backwards. The truck rolled into adjacent travel lanes, jackknifed and hit a guardrail before coming to a stop with the trailer blocking the westbound lanes.

Senators push for further delay of ELD compliance for livestock haulers
A bi-partisan group of 20 U.S. Senators has filed a letter with Senate leaders Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) and Chuck Schumer (D-New York) expressing their support for a Congressional measure to give livestock haulers and insect haulers at least an extra 10 months to comply with the federal governmentâs electronic logging device mandate.

Indiana wants delay in ELD mandate due to concerns about FMCSA registry
Citing a bevy of concerns, Indianaâs attorney general has filed a request with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to delay the Dec. 18, 2017, compliance deadline of the agencyâs electronic logging device mandate. , Indiana AG Curtis Hill Jr. says the deadline, now weeks out, âwould place undue burdens on drivers and operators,â arguing for âan immediate delay in the implementation of the new requirements.â
