DAT, TransVix partner to offer rate futures for spot market
The Trucking Futures Exchange will allow carriers, shippers and brokers to buy and sell rates futures, leveraging DATâs data on lanes and pricing. TransVix says it wants to address volatility in spot market rates and capacity, where it says spot rates can swing by as much as 40 percent in a week on some lanes.

Van rates may have hit bottom for the season, says DATâs Ken Harper. âThere are reasons to be cautiously optimistic, however, for spot freight. âVolumes on the top 100 van lanes were up 2.5 percent over the previous week, and about the same month over month.â

Flatbed rates had a small rebound last week, amid seasonal declines across all segments. On the top 78 open-deck lanes, rates rose on 42 of them, while 31 declined. The other five were neutral.
