James Bradley Jr. has been sentenced to two concurrent life sentences without parole for his role in the deaths of 10 immigrants who died while being transported in a sweltering tractor-trailer in San Antonio last summer.

The provision seeks to reassert the federal governmentâs role in managing driversâ hours of service by preventing states from requiring carriers to comply with any state-level laws. The measure also restricts states from forcing carriers to pay drivers for non-driving tasks.

National Safety Council numbers do not include specific crash data, such as how many of the highway deaths were as a result of a truck-involved accident. In sum, 40,100 deaths occurred last year, according to the NSC.

Former Texas trooper gets prison time for accepting bribes for clean inspections
From July 2014 through September 2015, Cauley reported conducting 39 Level 1 inspections on Cruz and Sons trucks, all of which were given a Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance inspection decal for a clean inspection. Cruz reportedly paid Cauley at least $4,000 for the clean inspections

OOIDA, safety groups rally against bill to allow under-21 interstate truckers
In a letter sent to the Houseâs Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, the committee where the bill was filed, OOIDA and a long list of other groups, told lawmakers they strongly oppose the DRIVE Actâs passage. The groups claim in the letter that younger drivers are much more likely to crash. The actâs training requirements are also âwoefully inadequate,â they write.
