ATRI ‘parking diaries’ reveal ELDs make finding parking more difficult
Parking diaries kept by nearly 600 truck drivers for two weeks this year revealed truckers spend an average of 56 minutes per day searching for parking, costing them nearly $5,000 a year in wages. The report also showed truckers using ELDs spend more time searching for parking than those using paper logs.

The app includes the total number of parking spaces at more than 5,000 truck stops in the U.S., along with some rest areas. NATSO says independent and chain truck stops are participating in reporting their available spaces, representing more than 150,000 truck parking spaces.
