New TruckPark app allows drivers to reserve parking spaces
The TruckPark app currently allows drivers to reserve parking at 13 truck stops in and around Chicago, Cleveland, New York City, Atlanta, Dallas and Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Company COO and co-founder Joshua Walls said TruckPark will soon be expanding to additional locations.

Texas receives grant to help fund I-10 corridor truck parking information system

Eight-state truck parking information initiative nears full launch
Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota and Kansas DOTs each announced earlier this month they have launched their versions of the truck parking space counting system, joining Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin in rolling out the program. See where to access the parking information here.

Michigan, Ohio expanding truck parking information systems
Michigan DOT says it is adding new parking locations at eight rest areas and is adding nine new signs to show truck parking availability. Ohio DOT is also putting up nine signs to alert truck drivers of available truck parking at rest areas in the state.

Texas Department of Transportation reps have moved on efforts to assess a way forward on potentially taking steps to improve parking infrastructure for truckers hauling to, through and from the state. TxDOT wants input now from carriers and drivers on parking issues in the state.

Texas town can now enforce truck parking bans on private property
The new ordinance in Midland gives business owners the ability to prohibit truck parking on their property with enforcement provided by the city. The ordinance allows the city to fine truckers parked in posted no parking zones on commercial property up to $500.

N.C. city bans parking trucks at drivers’ homes
Rocky Mount, N.C.’s city council adopted an ordinance that bans the parking of commercial vehicles and/or trailers longer than 25 feet or weighing more than 10,000 pounds, which includes Class 3-8 trucks, in residential areas.
