FMCSA is launching a new panel to its Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee that will be comprised of truck drivers. Border Patrol agents at a California cargo crossing had to break open quartz boulders to find 229 packages of methamphetamine and cocaine hidden inside.

FMCSA has suspended hours of service regs for emergency relief haulers responding to Hurricane Sally in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi. Daimler will pay $1.5 billion to settle a diesel van emission cheating case. TA is raising money for the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund.
