DOT adding four opioids to drug testing panel for truckers
New drugs that drivers will be tested for include hydrocodone, hydromorphone, oxymorphone, and oxycodone. The drugs are usually taken as pills. According to the CDC, opioid abuse has seen a dramatic increase in recent years.

EPA officially proposes killing regs that threatened glider kit trucks
The Environmental Protection Agency will soon publish a rulemaking intended to exempt glider kit trucks from the sweeping Phase 2 emissions standards enacted by the Obama Administration in 2016, bringing relief to a segment of vehicle makers that said the emissions standards would kill their businesses.

Fuel line dispute between truckers ends with shooting, suicide
A dispute between truckers allegedly over a spot in the fuel pump line at a Walton, Ky., truck stop left one truck driver with a gunshot wound in his arm and another dead after an apparent suicide. The incident occurred at approximately 9:38 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

The Texas representative who has been the principal sponsor of the H.R. 3282 ELD Extension Act of 2017 two-year ELD mandate delay has written a letter requesting President Trump issue an executive order to delay the December 18 mandate enforcement deadline at least until April Fool’s Day next year.

Dave Jackson, president and CEO of the new company, said the decline was due to $12.3 million in expenditures related to “legal and professional fees related to the merger with Swift.” In sum, the company reported more than half a billion in revenue in the third quarter.
