The excise tax on diesel in the state jumped from 16 cents per gallon to 36 cents per gallon Wednesday. The state has also increased the sales tax rate on diesel from 9 percent to 13 percent.

California is planning to seek an intrastate adoption of the electronic logging device mandate that is likely to impose a deadline of December 31, 2020, for intrastate carriers. Oregon will enforce on the federal timeline Dec. 18 this year.
